its voice is smooth, honeyed and intoxicating β uttering words that ensnare even the most guarded minds.When Mephistopheles merges with Orin during Enshroud,
his vibrant red hair and fur darken to an inky black, his body becoming wreathed in flickering shadows. Both of his eyes ignite with the same baleful red light that the voidsent calls its own. In this enhanced form, Orin moves with unnatural grace
and ferocity, his strikes imbued with the predatory intent of the voidsent. Furthermore, while the pact remains, he can partially access this enhanced strength outside of his Enshroud, and will not age β essentially rendering him immortal

Born in Dalmasca as the illegitimate son of a Miqo'te courtesan and a Lupin Mercenary, Orin's life was shaped by the whims of fate. He grew up under the looming shadow of Garlean occupation, with no father and a mother whose affections were buried beneath the hardships she had to endure. He learned early that fortune was a fickle mistress,
rewarding the bold and punishing the weak. To survive, one had to adapt quickly, and thus, he honed his wit, charm and cunning, making his own way in a world that offered little kindness to the likes of him.Orin became a smuggler, a resistance operative, an agent of defiance that sought to crush his people β outwitting, outlasting and outmaneuvering his foes. Each day was a gamble,
a roll of the dice where the stakes were his life. The people of Dalmasca respected him, even loved him, but he was always an outsider, close enough to be admired, but never fully embraced. He could never settle, never find what he longed for, and though he craved connection it eluded him.However, his luck changed
instantly when a mission to infiltrate a Garlean research facility went horribly awry. Captured and subjected to unspeakable experiments, Orin was made into the unwilling vessel for a voidsent named Mephistopheles. It latched onto his soul, drawn to the hunger for connection and purpose that plagued him and made his soul vulnerable.
The creature fused with him, and the power of the void was his, but so too was the struggle to keep it in check. In spite of the odds, Orin managed to wrest control back by forging a pact that would be mutually beneficial, forming a tenuous symbiosis with Mephistopheles. However, as time went by, he would have to learn how to keep its voracious nature in check without succumbing.Escaping from the Garlean stronghold, Orin eventually became known as the Red Wraith,
a notorious thief, smuggler and assassin. He would be a hero to some β a symbol of defiance and freedom β but to others, he was nothing but a scoundrel, a corrupted victim of the Garlean Empire. This earned him both allies and enemies among the oppressed and powerful alike. Though he was always a step ahead, it kept him drifting between places, never settling anywhere.
He eventually found a new purpose
among the lost and broken, those cast aside by society. Those who, like him, had nowhere else to go. He began to build a network of misfits, orphans and fugitives, teaching them how to survive in a world that has no place for them. All the while, he has been seeking deeper knowledge of the void, hoping to master the entity
with which he now shares his body. This included studying the Reapers, once assassins for the Empire, now a part of his personal quest to learn more, despite his lingering hatred for the Garlean Empire.He began working in cooperation with various criminal organizations and syndicates, looking to take advantage of the exchange of information and goods that they offered. He had a knack for brokering deals and uncovering opportunities, carving out his own niche
in the seedy underbellies of the world as a figure simply known as ' Fortuna. ' Through all of these endeavors, he eventually met Hati, a fellow opportunist who initially was merely a business partner, but grew into a trusted friend. This relationship would lead Orin to the Danse Macabre funeral parlor, where he started out as an affiliate but would eventually pledge himself to House Acheron
and take charge of the Widowmakers, putting the experiences and skills of his life to good use.
